We're Nick and Vicky, the two directors of Holloway and Holloway Architects and here's our story. We met online and studied at the University of Westminster together before getting married five years later. Over the years, we've both worked in large and small architecture practices and whilst we gained invaluable experience, we knew that we could do better. In 2017 we started our own studio where we are joined at work every day by our children, Theo and Emilia and our cats Lily and Jake.
Nick is the type of guy you would take home to your mother. He is trustworthy, charming, smart and very likeable which we believe are also great qualities to have in someone who you work with. He is also extremely determined, if something needs to happen, he will move heaven and earth to make sure that it does.
He studied Architecture at the Welsh School of Architecture and Westminster University London where he received a distinction grade. With a background in Super Prime Residential and Historic Buildings, he is very detail orientated. Nick loves to take projects on site and make them a reality, excelling at the construction stage.
In his spare time, Nick enjoys playing strategic board games (this skill is surprisingly transferrable to many parts of our lives and thankfully he is very good at them), he also loves being in the great outdoors and playing with our children, for those in the know he would give Bandit a run for his money. Life highlights also include walking the width of Spain, studying Kung Fu in China and apprenticing under an award-winning chef.
We once thought about calling our practice Frank and Waffle, because where I bring the waffle Vicky is frank, so you always know where you stand with her. She is straight talking, passionate, caring and incredibly efficient and brings this to everything she does in life and work.
She studied at the University of Bath and then on to Westminster University. Her strengths lie in early-stage planning and design work, which make her our feasibility expert, advising clients on the realistic potential of their project before working with them to realise their aspirations.
Outside of work, Vicky enjoys making small replicas of food packaging out of felt, cultivates a cut flower and vegetable garden that would make Peter Rabit salivate and is responsible for the significant majority of dishwasher unloads in the household (though I should add I’m not sure she enjoys that bit). She has travelled the world, cared for Orangutans and kayaked the archipelago’s of Sweden.
Her clients love her because she works tirelessly for her them with their best interests at heart all of the time and they can see that in everything she does. She will never let you down.
Our philosophy is to listen. So, whether you are a home owner or a commercial client the key benefits of working with us remain the same, as the main thing is we want you to be happy with us, and proud of your completed project.
We recently moved out of London and now live and work in Maidenhead, this gives us great access to London and the Home Counties such as Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
But we are happy to work all over and have undertaken projects from Leister to the South Coast.
If you want to discuss a project with us then you can do that here >
Let's talk about Donnington House. In a nutshell, it is the centre of our world, where we live and work and our long-term project. We moved from London in 2022 and intend to be here for a very long time, slowly renovating and transforming this Arts and Crafts era property into our dream home.
We understand the highs and lows which our clients face as we live the journey ourselves. This is our second full home transformation project and we are always still learning from it.
